“Forget the Diet. Live the Lifestyle.”
Transitions Lifestyle System
(TLS) is a weight management program created by nutritionists,
fitness experts, and physicians who work with Market America.
Let us see how it measures up to the principles discussed
in The Four Cornerstones of Sensible,
Healthy Weight Management.
1: Modify Your Lifestyle and Behaviors
From TLS classes, you will learn how your current
lifestyle and behaviors affect your health, and what changes
you need to make in areas, such as your eating habits, food
choices, physical activity, stress management, and self-esteem.
While TLS does offer optional quick meals and
snacks for those occasions when you really have no energy
left for anything else, the main focus is always on utilizing
real foods as much as possible. The program teaches how to
tell good fats, proteins, and carbs from bad ones, and how
to make imperfect recipes healthier. It also offers guidance
in making healthier choices when you dine out.
TLS will give you plenty of ideas for exercise
you can do anywhere, and without any expensive equipment.
If you prefer, you are also welcome to join a health club
of your choice.
You can practice stress reduction techniques
taught by TLS on your own, anywhere you are, without any special
tools.
TLS also offers techniques that help train your
thoughts in the direction of a positive attitude towards yourself
and the world.
2: Improve Your Body Composition
The TLS mantra is “Muscle dictates metabolism.”
Muscle is indeed the active ingredient in a healthy, stable
metabolism. Your body fat does NOT help burn your body fat,
but your muscle does.
TLS teaches you how your eating habits, food
choices, physical activity, and stress levels affect your
ratio of body fat to muscle. The program also offers you several
supplements that support your metabolism, and thus help further
improve your body composition.
3: Keep Track of Your Progress
TLS offers two ways of keeping track of your
progress. If you like writing by hand and turning pages, you
can use a paper Daily Journal
book. If you prefer the cyberspace, you can subscribe to the
TLS website.
Both tools provide additional information. Naturally,
the website has a lot more of it, including interactive tools
to create weekly menus and shopping lists; animated exercise
demos; articles related to weight management; and a forum
where you can exchange ideas and information on topics that
interest you with all TLS participants and consultants.
4: Utilize Expert Support
For the best results, you would start your TLS
program with twelve weeks of instructor-led classes, either
in a group setting or one on one. Your instructor is a weight
management expert, who has received training in all areas
taught by TLS.
In addition, the forum on the TLS website gives
you access to all TLS consultants and their expertise.
Saluterra’s TLS consultant, Magz will
be happy to stay in touch with you beyond the twelve-week
course, for as long as you want her assistance.
