| Pet Grooming Tips:
Cruelty-Free Alternative to Declawing
Cats are among the most stress-relieving pets
out there. Stroking a cat’s fur and listening to the
purring can both be very calming. But sometimes kitties may
instead contribute to your stress if they like to use their
claws on anything other than a scratch post. Luckily for all
involved, there is a humane way to stop that.
Not everyone realizes how cruel declawing is.
Just imagine — how would you
feel if someone tore out your finger nails or toe nails? Your
cat wouldn’t enjoy it any more if his or her claws were
removed. Declawing is an extremely painful
and traumatic procedure.
Instead, to protect your furniture, rugs, etc.,
you can put special rubber nail caps on the kitty’s
claws. Just like these, modeled patiently by our Argento:

These “soft claws” are very easy
to apply and safe for your pet, they come with non-toxic adhesive
that keeps the caps on the claws. They also come in different
sizes, depending on the size of the cat. Kitty may still try
scratching things, however, this won’t cause any damage.
Some cats may take a few days to get used to
their new claw covers and may try to chew them off at first.
A nail cap will also fall off each time your cat sheds a natural
claw sheath. You need to check your cat’s claws regularly
and replace the caps as needed. A package of 40 nail caps
usually lasts 4 to 6 months per cat, assuming you only put
them on the front paws, which is usually sufficient.
Your local pet supplies store may carry nail
caps, or you can find them on our web portal and, in addition
to saving your furniture, you’ll be earning cash back
and other rewards.
