How to Help an Aging Pet
We adore our pets when they are young, cute,
and full of energy. As they age, their cuteness and energy
may subside but, hopefully, our love for them does not!
Just as their human companions, animals experience
age-related diseases that may affect their hearts and other
internal organs, as well as their vision, hearing, and mobility.
Some also get cancer or diabetes.
One way to help our pets in those difficult
times is to let them know that we still love them. A little
extra TLC can go a long way, making the pets’ final
years happy ones. Stroke their fur or feathers, talk to them
gently, hold them in your lap, carry them in your arms. Facial
contact may be important for some species, for instance, cats
will usually welcome your cheek brushing against theirs.
Aging pets also have special nutritional requirements.
They may need specially formulated food and, in some cases,
supplements that promote cardiovascular health, healthy joints,
vision or hearing, or provide general health and immune system
support.
You don’t want your pet’s food dish
to become a pill box, your pet would not want that, either.
It is best to find a supplement that supports many different
aspects of pet health simultaneously. If it comes in a form
other than pills, that’s even better.
One such supplement is PetHealth
OPC. This powerful, beef-flavored antioxidant with
glucosamine comes in powder form, so it can be easily mixed
with your pet’s food or water. It supports heart and
blood health, vision, joints, and the immune system. It also
helps control blood sugar levels, helping prevent diabetes,
and promotes healthy nitric oxide levels, helping prevent
cancer, arthritis, and other conditions.
Although PetHealth OPC
is primarily meant for dogs and cats, it can be used for other
species, as well, with dosage adjusted to the animal’s
size.
