Once upon a shoe

PRO-Keds has a very long history — it goes as far back as 1892, when The US Rubber Company started producing rubber for shoe soles. In 1916, The US Rubber Company merged with Goodyear (yes, the tire manufacturer) and the first Keds — with vulcanized rubber soles — were made. In 1949, the sports line called PRO-Keds was introduced.

Sports champions have been showing off their PRO-Keds for decades. In fact, Royal Master PRO-Keds became the basketball shoe of choice in the 1970s; in the 1980s, PRO-Keds were endorsed by International Boxing Hall of Fame honoree, “Sugar” Ray Leonard; and in this century, PRO-Keds has had a great come-back via Damon Dash Enterprises and Dash-Dibella Promotions. In addition to the comfort and durability that PRO-Keds have always been known for, now they also dazzle us with very creative designs courtesy of today’s most sought-after contemporary artists.
