So far we have used three
Snap laundry products: the regular laundry detergent,
the Free & Clear laundry detergent, and the powder
fabric softener.
We probably won’t try the Free and
Clear liquid fabric softener any time soon only because
our current washer doesn’t have an automatic softener
dispenser.

All of these laundry products do their jobs
and are quite efficient, but our very favorite in terms of
cost-effectiveness is the Snap
Fabric Softener powder. We just opened our third container
this summer, the first two lasted about three and a quarter
years each at five dryer loads per week. That’s less
than $3 per year!
We also like the softener’s ease
of use. We just sprinkle a dash or two of the powder
onto our laundry in the dryer and our work is done: there
are no softener sheets to fish out of our sleeves when the
drying cycle ends. And we are amazed at how well the powder
gets distributed without ever sticking to the laundry!
We like the small size of the container, too.
The 2.54 ounces of softener powder are equivalent to about
1000 softener sheets, but fit in a tiny salt
shaker instead of several bulky boxes. What a space
saver!
The laundry detergents are quite cost-effective
and easy to use, as well. One 40 ounce bottle yields forty
loads in a top-loading washer — eighty loads in a side-loading
one! We use the bottle cap to measure the liquid and add half
a capful to an extra-large load, less to smaller loads.
While the regular detergent and softener do
have a little bit of fragrance, it pretty much dissipates
after a short time. Our clothes, sheets and towels smell fresh,
but not perfumy.
